Series A: Northwestern Museum Of Science & Industry Collection

The formative years of the photographer’s art are represented by the Northwestern Museum collection, and four books of particular importance illustrate the range of material covered. They are: Recherches Photographiques (Paris 1955) Niepce St. Vistor, its author was the earliest practitioner of photography to form a photographic image and preserve it; The Collodian Process on Glass by F.S. Archer. Archer invented wet collodion; D. van Monkhoven’s Photographic Optics and Naturalistic Photography (1889) by P.H. Emerson who pioneered the photography of landscape.
